Join us to learn the basics of cemetery restoration in Winchendon's beautiful Old Centre Cemetery!
Winchendon History and Cultural Society is hosting a workshop for learning the basics of cemetery restoration.
We will be learning how to properly clean gravestones, including how to assess the state of stones and how to determine which are in need of resetting and repair. We will also learn some simple types of resetting and repairing stones.
The workshop will be taught by Jonathan Appell of Atlas Preservation, with assistance from Michael Passmore of All Vets Matter.
Our goal is to learn the skills critical to getting this historic cemetery looking its best and to help prevent it from falling into further disrepair.
The cost of workshop is $20 per person (ages 12+) and space is limited.
Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided. Please feel free to bring an item to share.
Please bring eye protection and gloves to the workshop. You will be required to sign a waiver.
Please contact Amy at winchendoncemetery@gmail.com with any questions.
